Aderopo Afolabi is a Nigerian visual artist whose practice explores African identity, fashion cultures, and representation. My work highlights African textiles, particularly Ankara, while addressing broader questions of race, modest fashion, and appearance-based discrimination.
My ability to create visuals stems from the talent I have in photography, which is supported by my recently acquired education, an MA in Commercial Photography.
My image was selected as a Portrait of Britain award winner in January 2023 from my Artistic series about Black Women and Afrocentric Fashion, and my image was further selected to be on the front cover of Portrait of Britain Vol 5 Book, which is published by Hoxton Mini Press
